Pastor Lowell Erdahl – June 2009

Pastor Lowell Erdahl-----June 2009

My wife Carol and I arrived in Vilnius on May 30 and enjoyed being here for your 10th Anniversary/Pentecost events. It was good to meet and begin to know some of you. I will be your pastor during June and have planned a 4 Sunday sermon series on "Texts for Which I'm Thankful" that will focus on Bible passages that are especially meaningful to me and which I hope will be significant for you.

I grew up on a farm in south-central Minnesota and attended a one room country school. I graduated from Blue Earth High School, St. Olaf College. Luther Seminary in St. Paul, and Union Theological Seminary in New York. I served as a parish pastor in Farmington MN and at University Lutheran Church of Hope in Minneapolis, was on the faculty of Luther Seminary and was Bishop of the S.E.MN District of the ALC and St. Paul Area Synod of the ELCA. Carol was a school librarian & for nearly 25 years has been co-owner/operator of the Red Balloon Bookshop in St.Paul. Two of our children, Becky, with her daughters Carlie and Katie, and Beth will visit us here later in June. Our son Paul & his wife Elizabeth & their children Peter and Anne are home in Minneapolis.

I've written several books including "Be Good to Each Other: An Open Letter on Marriage", (co-authored with Carol), "Pro-Life/Pro-Peace: Life Affirming Alternatives to Abortion, War, Mercy Killing and the Death Penalty" and most recently, "Winsome Wisdom: 366 Thoughts to Ponder and to Live". We look forward to our time together.

God bless you all, Lowell Erdahl
